Sharon Lawrence

Sharon Elizabeth Lawrence is an American dancer, actor and singer who is most famous for her award-winning portrayal of Sylvia Costas on the show 'NYPD Blue'. From her childhood she has always been fascinated by dance and acting. She comes from a family filled with extrovert storytellers. her father had studied acting and performed in theater during the time of her father. It was her first in the family to translate the natural talent into working. In Raleigh she finished her formal education, and then began an acting profession. This was sparked through some of her musical appearances. Lawrence began her stage journey in the latter half of the 80s. Since the time she began, she has been in several TV shows as well as films. She has appeared in musicals like 'Cabaret' 'A Song at Twilight and 'Fiddler on the Roof,' and Chicago.' She played Sylvia Costas in the police drama 'NYPD Blue' earned her an Screen Actors Guild Award. The other television credits she has played include 'Desperate Housewives Law and Order Special Victims Unit', 'Ladies Man' and 'Rizzoli & Isles'.
